At Rollins she was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and a member of the International English Honor Society Sigma Tau Delta. She graduated from Rollins College in 2010, cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Michelle graduated from the Park School of Baltimore in 2005, where she always took two English classes each semester. By the end of the school year, her first novel was completed! She handed in the first chapter as a homework assignment for class, and when her teacher and classmates wanted her to continue writing, she decided to go for it. A murder most unladylike series6/30/2023 ![]() ![]() It is a British boarding school mystery that features two whip-smart upper class girls in the pre WWII years. And that’s really more than any ten year old can decipher. The safe English boarding school novel is actually a seething pit of passions, jealousies, shame, regret, and fear of exposure. ![]() But in the end, it is the impenetrable motivations of the untrustworthy adults around them that is the real mystery for protagonists and readers. The two protagonists are sweetly innocent themselves, and like Harriet the Spy, spunky and curious and eager to find a mystery to solve. teachers are having sexual affairs, there are secret illegitimate children, people are murdered to cover up their sexual pasts and from passion and jealousy). These are young teenage characters, who may not know the mechanics of sex or have experienced sexual passion themselves, but they know of its existence, and the mystery turns on the social repercussions of violating the sexual norms of the period (i.e. ![]() ![]() Note: 3rd form in the UK is Not comparable to 3rd grade in the US. Parents should know that in addition to being an engaging mystery, there is a lot that is problematic with regards to how it depicts issues of race, sexuality, body-image, and that a lot of the content is for more mature readers. I know I was supposed to love this book- but. ![]()

Shiloh naylor novel6/30/2023 ![]() The next day Judd drives up and asks Marty and his dad if they’d seen him. He makes a promise to Shiloh that he will never send him back to Judd, and sneaking back and forth to the shed, he picks up wire and some fencing to build a pen. He picks him up from the front yard and heads to the woods so that nobody will see him. While contemplating about the dog, Marty hears a sound he knows is Shiloh. Marty continues collecting bottles and cans for the next couple days, eager to make enough money to buy the dog from Judd. Marty is livid and more determined than ever to save that Shiloh dog. Judd openly admits to not feeding the dogs or even giving them names. A day later, Marty helps his dad deliver Sears magazines all over town, including Judd’s neighborhood. He asks his father, who is a mailman, if he knows of any way he could earn money, but the only option is to collect bottles and cans. Marty thinks about Shiloh all night and makes up his mind to find a way to buy the dog from Judd. Marty’s parents dismiss the dog completely and after dinner, Marty’s dad returns the dog to Judd Travers, a conniving man who Marty suspects is abusing Shiloh. ![]() ![]() Marty goes for a walk after lunch on a Sunday afternoon and is followed home by a sad-looking, malnourished beagle, whom he names Shiloh.
